Kidderminster lions girls 6 - 2 Kinver colts girls.

our last 2 matches has been very close against kinver. 1-0 and a 1-2, both wins but always close. after recent form, i really wasnt too sure what too expect. the girls have hit good form and now we have strength in defence, midfield and up front, plus a very good goalie in the making.

first half started with the lions attacking from both wings and from the middle. After 10 minutes, a sensational opener hit the far corner from a left foot shot, which was hit sweetly by central midfielder grace. 5 minutes later saw a great positional play made from the left by shannon to set up abbie to secure a strike of quality, through the middle.
the third goal was a power play, played from right to left and back to middle for abbie to force her way past two defenders, to hit another sweet shot to the corner. kiddy lions 3 - 0 up after 20 minutes.
the fourth goal was set up and finished by jaz p, she passed the ball to grace who passed to abbie who touched it through for jaz to hit another incredible strike for a four goal lead.
kinver later had a shot which was also hit high and sweetly into the top corner to give kinver a well deserved goal. 4 - 1 to kiddy lions girls at half time. goalie didnt stand a chance.

second half, saw a team that have really have found great form and after months of missing goal with so many chances, every chance started to hit the back of the net. another goal came to abbie to secure another hatrick and shannon secured the sixth with a 1 on 1 with the keeper which bobbled to shannons advantage which gave her a easy tap into the open goal.

another great performance by all our players, especially sophie p. she has spent months trying to get involved in the game, today she got stuck in and finally became another link in our chain of newly found talent.

player of the match goes to jaz b and abbie w, but overall it was a great performance from all our team. but abbies finishing was alot better and jaz didnt let us down at all in defence, but frustrated kinver for the entire match.

well done girls, were all very proud of you all, keep up the good work.

this game should have been our last game, but due to the loss of our pitch at the end of march, this was rearranged after several letters to the league. thanks to jim for resolving this issue.

2009 has seen the team still moving players to try to cement a good midfield. the team are very good at attacking and defending but seem to lose alot of space to the opposition in midfield.

a few moves found hidden magic from players, saying that they cant play that position, but they were surprised to find out how easy it was, i think that playing the same formation makes a team go very stale, quite quickly. its better to blame the position than themselves and lose confidence.
